John D. Marvin
John D. Marvin is President and CEO of TSO, Inc. (Texas State Optical). Founded in 1936, Texas State Optical is the oldest eye care organization in Texas and has provided quality eye care for more Texas families than any other eye care organization.
The network of independent, professional optometrists operates as a member-owned cooperative and specializes in providing practice management training marketing, advertising and consulting, supporting over 120 network member offices. Sales for the network topped $94 million dollars in 2012 and has posted increases in each of the past eight years. While the average revenue of an optometry practice in the USA is between $450K and $600K, the average for the TSO network offices is over $750K.
John has a longstanding history of management experience, leadership and marketing within the ophthalmic and optometric industry. He publishes a weekly practice management blog at www.practiceprinciples.net.
Andrew Morgenstern, OD, FAAO
Dr. Morgenstern is a graduate of Boston University and Nova Southeastern College of Optometry. On May 19, 2012, Dr. Morgenstern was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award for Service to Profession from his undergraduate alma mater, Boston University. The award was presented at the 2012 Boston University commencement.
He completed his training at the world-renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute / Jackson Memorial Hospital at the University of Miami, School of Medicine. From 2004-2010, Dr. Morgenstern served as the Southeast Atlantic Regional Clinical Director for TLC Laser Eye Centers and was the TLC national education coordinator and lecturer for all national and international optometric meetings. He has been an Optometric leader in refractive surgery for the past thirteen years. In that time he has seen over 85,000 refractive surgery patients and worked with and taught refractive surgery to over 250 surgeons.
In late 2012, Dr. Morgenstern accepted a position to serve as a Subject Matter Expert and Healthcare Consultant with the firm of Booz Allen Hamilton. His current assignment is with the organization created by the US Congress, The Vision Center of Excellence at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
Alan Glazier, OD, FAAO
Dr. Glazier is known for his in depth understanding of Internet marketing, having totally eliminated traditional marketing from his practice in 2007 in favor of social media and search optimization. He is the author of numerous articles in professional magazines on the subject including “Searchial Marketing” describing how interacting within social media elevates a practice listing in search engines. Dr. Glazier was one of the first 3 optometrists in the world to use PCS software in his practice and has been recently awarded one of the “most influential” optometrists” of 2012 by the VisionMonday organization. Dr. Glazier is the co-founder of Seeing is Believing and CEing is Believing, optometry’s virtual conferences.
Dr. Kenneth Lawenda, OD
Dr. Kenneth Lawenda is a therapeutic optometrist who earned his Bachelor of Science and a Doctorate in Optometry from the Southern California College of Optometry. He was Chief of Optometry at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles and was on staff for 37 years. In 2001 he was awarded Emeritus Status.
Dr. Lawenda was in private practice for 37 years in West Hollywood (1970-2007) before joining the staff of Dr.Richlin O.D. & Associates.
He served on the Board of Trustees of the California Optometric Association and is Past President of the COA. He was Political Action Director for California for the American Optometric Association from 2007-2011.
Dr. Lawenda was awarded California Optometrist of the Year in 2007.
He was appointed by Governor Schwarzenegger in 2007 to serve the Dept. of Consumer Affairs on the California State Board of Optometry and is presently serving his second term.
Dr. Lawenda assisted the LA Free Clinic in setting up the Eye Care section at its inception. He was appointed by the LA Olympic Committee to serve as Chief of Optometry at the Polyclinic UCLA for the 1984 Olympics.

Michael Porat, COO EyeCarePro
Mr. Porat is the Chief Operating Officer of EyeCarePro and the liaison between the EyeCarePro team and the Planning Board. Mr. Porat is responsible for the day to day planning and operations of the conference. Having previous been a hospital administrator and insurance administrator, Mr. Porat has dedicated his career to business and product development in the healthcare space.
